News and Updates from Dr. Warren, Edmonton Dentist
Are you looking for a downtown Edmonton dentist that has a relaxing environment and uses digital x-rays? Patients appreciate the safety and efficiency of digital x-ray and seeing images instantly on the monitor screens in our convenient downtown Edmonton offic. Our dental offices provide a more modern and relaxing environment. Our patients appreciate the comfortable chairs in the waiting room and the softer, updated colors and Mediterranean paintings in the reception area. Some of our newer paintings in the clinic rooms were done by one of our own patients, Katherine Goertz.
New Dental Equipment
In early 2010, Dr. Warren invested in an Ivoclair Odyssey Diode Laser for doing preventive and soft tissue procedures which replaces the Electrosurge. The laser facilitates better postoperative healing and reduces the risk of infection.
Soft tissue surgery is sometimes required prior to doing crown and bridge work and the laser works great for this procedure. We take pride in n providing our patients with optimum and comfortable dental care.
We strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible, so let us know what we can do to help you relax. If you are sensitive to the sound of the dental handpiece and equipment, ask to use our headphones and C.D. player, or bring along your own iPod. If you anxious about dental treatment, talk to Dr. Warren and he can discuss the use of nitrous oxide, premedication or other approaches.

Infection Control Systems and Update of Sterilization Room
Dr. Warren is one of Edmonton's dentists who is very concerned about ensuring that we follow the Canadian Dental Association's Universal Guidelines on Infection Control, and Alberta Health's infection prevention & control standards. Infection Control is the term used to describe the prevention of any disease transmission from one patient to another patient, the patient to dental staff, or dental personnel to the patient. Infection control procedures protect all of us from the transmission of disease.
Dr. Warren renovated the sterilization room to make it more efficient for cleaning and sterilizing instruments and clinic materials. All the cabinets and counter tops were replaced and areas are labeled to ensure proper protocols are followed. He recently purchased a new sterilizer, the LISA, which is used in the surgical wards of hospitals and is highly effective. All instruments and handpieces (drills) are sterilized after each use and many items are disposed of after each patient, such as gloves, saliva tips, needles, etc. Areas that can't be sterilized such as lights, chairs, and counters are wiped with an effective disinfectant and where feasible are covered with disposable materials.
We recently purchased our own system for doing daily spore tests on the sterilizer to ensure it is working optimally. In the past, we sent our spore tests out every two weeks. Chemical monitoring of each sterilization package is also done. This new system will ensure more regular monitoring. We stay updated on current standards in infection control through continuing education to ensure patient and staff safety.
If you have any questions or concerns about infection control procedures, please ask us when you call or at your appointment.
Thank you for your loyalty and referrals over the last year.
