Our Dental Services - Full or Partial Dentures
Removable full or partial dentures are used to replace all or some of the missing teeth in the mouth. They also replace lost bone underneath the gum tissue.
Benefits of full or partial dentures are:
- They help restore lost chewing function, poor facial esthetics due to a collapse in lower facial height and poor lip support, and in some cases altered speech.
- Although full or partial dentures are removable and may sometimes be loose fitting due to inadequate bone support, this may be enhanced by means of anchorage of the denture to implants or dental crowns.
- Attaching a removable partial denture to crowns on the remaining natural teeth may help eliminate the need for unsightly metal display. See photos.
The left image (above) shows the old-style denture, which uses a larger metal clasp. The right image shows a new version of the partial denture, using much less metal and looking more natural. We also performed a tooth whitening procedure for the photo on the right.
Procedure
For complete dentures, usually a minimum of five separate office visits are required. Additional visits are required if they are to be anchored by dental implants.
Impressions of the jaws are made followed by "try in" appointments of the artificial teeth set in wax to check the shade and shape of the teeth, the overall appearance and the way in which the teeth in the opposing jaws fit together (occlusion).

Finally, appointments are made to deliver the finished dentures and make any necessary adjustments. The procedure for removable partial dentures is similar to complete dentures and also requires a minimum of five separate office visits.
Additional visits are required if they are to be attached to underlying dental implants or to crowns over natural teeth for additional support and better function and esthetics.
